Honey & Bee Keeping FAQ'S

Raw honey is honey in its purest form—unfiltered, unpasteurized, and straight from the hive! 🐝🍯 Unlike processed honey, raw honey retains all the natural enzymes, pollen, and antioxidants that make it so nutritious. It’s packed with flavor, a little cloudy due to natural bee magic (a.k.a. pollen and propolis), and may even crystallize over time—which just proves it's the real deal!

Honey crystallizes because it’s a natural sugar solution, and over time, the glucose in honey separates from the water, forming tiny sugar crystals. But don’t worry—crystallized honey is just as delicious! 🍯✨ Some honeys, like canola or sunflower, crystallize faster than others because of their glucose-to-fructose ratio. Temperature also plays a role—cooler temps speed up crystallization, while warmer temps keep honey runny. If your honey gets a little crunchy, just place the jar in warm water, stir, and watch the magic happen! 🔥🚀

To keep your honey fresh and delicious, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. A pantry or cabinet works perfectly! 🍯✨ Honey doesn’t need refrigeration (it actually keeps better at room temperature), and it can last indefinitely if stored properly.

Honey should not be given to babies under 1 year old due to the risk of botulism. 🐝🍯 While botulism is rare, it can be caused by spores found in honey that may potentially grow in a baby's immature digestive system, leading to serious health issues.

After your baby turns one, their digestive system is developed enough to handle honey safely. Always make sure to consult with your pediatrician if you have any concerns about introducing new foods to your baby.

Local honey refers to honey that is produced by bees within a specific geographical area, typically within a 50-mile radius of where it is sold. The closer the bees are to the area where the honey is purchased, the more "local" it is considered. 🌍
